Different window manager, different set of packages, it is not only oriented toward the PII - PIII but includes software suitable for "less old" computers such as 1Ghz - 1.5Ghz. along with the lightweight alternatives. It is not targeted toward a 486 as the distros you mentioned are, and updates are provided from the Debian repository. In addition the full range of software packages available from Debian can be installed using Apt-Get.
